Over the last year, Eyebeam residents have been pursuing deep research into the distribution and analysis of Power, the subject of Eyebeam's 2016 Open Call: these Saturday afternoon convenings are a window into their process and the provisional results of this research.
Power is distributed but unevenly so. Power allocates resources. Power influences what is thought. Power decides what is real.

This event will focus on developing and 're-figuring' a practical and speculative archive of dark goddesses, female djinns, and monster figures of the Middle Eastern origin. Through a Wikipedia edit-a-thon session and a panel discussion Allahyari devises a narrative through practices of magic and poetic-speculative storytelling.

FAR-FLUNG is a performance series that questions the physical and metaphorical interfaces between computers and humans. The third and last round of these large-scale performances driven by real-time data, is in itself modular and consists of public research scenarios, performative installations, and development workshops, leading up to the final large-scale performance.

As part of Sobecka's long-term research project into the question of "who owns the air in the future?", this event will gather experts and friends to review current climate legislation. The goal is to use the model of a hackathon to explore legal avenues to mitigate climate change and the challenges that they face.
Trust and Believe
With Nora N. Khan Saturday April 29 2:00-6:00PM A day of inquiry centering on writer and resident Nora Khan's research project on how cognitive capitalism buries and hides its extractive intent through language. In moving from the individual interface with AI out to institutional leveraging of AI and state use of algorithmic modes of control, she hopes to give a detailed portrait of people as they are currently embedded within technocapitalism. This event marks a series of essays as part of a project partnership with publisher avant.org, with editor and co-curator Sam Hart.
