Eyebeam @ Internet Week New York

"Fast Connection Search: Recent Works from Eyebeam" Internet Week HQ @ Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 W 18 St May 20-23, open during public hours

Eyebeam is pleased to announce its upcoming involvement in Internet Week New York, the annual celebration of technology, business, and culture in the Big Apple. As the festival's official Arts Partner, Eyebeam will provide fresh and innovative programming, including an exhibition at the Metropolitan Pavilion entitled "Fast Connection Search: Recent Works from Eyebeam." Eyebeam's showcase encourages a dialogue around technological trial and error, artistic invention, and shape-shifting identities. It seeks a nuanced approach to our relationship with technology, and its individual, aesthetic, and emotional applications. The exhibition will include a roster of artists who creatively misuse technology and the Internet in their practice. Exploring the awkwardness of this technologically transitional time, the show addresses the notion that we are in the midst of a pivotal moment in the future of relationships negotiated online. Each of the works grapples in some manner with issues around the creation and presentation of one’s self in a world of seemingly infinite possibility. Participating artists include Katie Torn, Zach Gage, Jonas Lund, Sarah Grant, Paolo Cirio, Addie Wagenknecht, and Pablo Garcia.
